Ingrown Nails

Ingrown nails, the most common toenail impairment, are nails whose corners or sides dig painfully into the soft tissue of nail grooves, often leading to irritation, redness, swelling and infection. It’s usually the big toe that’s the victim, but other toes can be affected as well.

Causes of ingrown nails

  • Improperly trimmed nails
  • Shoe pressure; crowding of toes
  • Repeated trauma to the feet from normal activities associated with work, sports, and other leisure-time and fitness pursuits.
  • Heredity

For chronic conditions, a small portion of the ingrown nail needs to be removed and the nail bed treated with the application of a chemical and/or use of the laser. Treating an ingrown nail is relatively simple and extremely safe.

Ingrown Nail Treatments

Ingrown nails are an extremely common problem seen at our office. Treatment is directed at severity and chronicity of the problem. We have a very direct, simple treatment solution for patients with recurrent ingrown nails.

We have a great procedure that has a 97% success rate for patients with chronic ingrown nails. This procedure is a slamdunk because postoperatively there is no pain and it solves the problem. I’m astonished at how many patients come to me with chronic ingrown nails and have absolutely no idea there is a permanent solution to their problem.
